After an absence from the 2016 season to repair & heal up from the incidence in 2015, HARTek and Fabio will be returning with a renewed commitment. While our goal is still to achieve a National Championship, this season brings a new commitment. This season our program will return with Mazda power behind it. After over a decade with Toyota power the time for a change has come. After 2 years of speculation and a large amount of engineering from Olssen Engineering, the Mazda powered Swift 014's are now coming into reality. Through our association with Olssen Engineering, we will campaign the second production Swift 014 behind the Olssen entry and their driver Spencer Brockman. We are extremely excited about this season and what the new powerplant can deliver in competition. While new powerplants can be problematic in there infancy, enormous testing has gone on throughout last year and we will be ready!
A delay with the engine development set the HARTek Motorsport program somewhat behind earlier plans, BUT we're back and though not yet up to our expectations we are optimistic that the latter part of our season will be impressive. The June Sprints starter our season. The car was well off the pace but the team needed a test and this was the best opportunity. Three weeks later we tested again at Autobahn in Joliet, IL. This produced the expected results & Fabio seemed to return to his level of performance by the end of the day. The new Mazda performed well with only a minor number of items to address before our next event.
HARTek Automotive wishes to thank Fabio Castellani for his professional skills and personal friendship throughout this past season. Thanks also go to Ove Olsson of Olsson Engineering, Steve Knapp of Elite Engines, Jeff Walker of J.R.Walker, Inc., and Dave Redszus of Precision AutoResearch plus more people than space allows, they all made the season more productive and enjoyable than would have been possible without them.
Check back often for updates and Fabio ( www.fabiocatellani.worldpress.com/news-2/ ) in his pursuit of a national championship.
